About Us

Huggetts Nursery and Pre-school first opened in 2007 and has developed into a place where children can grow and have fun whilst learning and stimulating their imagination through creativity and play. Huggetts has a reputation for offering excellent facilities and service with flexible childcare options for parents.

We understand how important it is to make sure you choose the right nursery for your child, that’s why our dedicated members of staff are highly organised, hold the relevant qualifications and have acquired the characteristics loved by children: warmth, honesty, empathy, patience and a great deal of understanding.

As a converted village schoolhouse Huggetts has excellent facilities both inside and out. Children have the opportunity to go outside in our secure areas, play in the sandpit, make pies in our outside make shift kitchen and even do a spot of gardening!

Security

The safety and welfare of your child is of paramount importance to us. We have a very strict security procedure in place that ensures your child remains safe at all times. Only the main carer or approved person can collect your child from the nursery. All external doors are locked and no child can wonder out without a member of staff.

There’s also a 24 hour CCTV system set up throughout the premises.

Early Years Foundation Stage

Your child will encounter many milestones in their learning journey which are recorded and communicate to parents using a tool called ‘Tapestry’ (an online journal which records your child’s progress through this mountain of information). Parents are given access and can log in to check the progress of their child and obtain an understanding of how your child is developing. Both practitioners and parents can share details of work completed, pictures of outings, observations throughout the day and much more - keeping you truly up to date with the progress of your child.

The requirements of the Statutory Framework for the Early years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 2012 and Development Matters Foundation Stage, are worked and fulfilled within our nursery. Our members of staff observe, assess, plan, develop and implement a range of learning experiences for each child, which is dependent on their age and stage of development. The professionals teaching and supporting your child will make sure that the activities are suited to your child’s unique needs.

At Huggetts we also work towards promoting British Values; encouraging children to work as a team, understand boundaries with each other, making decisions together, yet have mutual respect for others as individuals, no matter their gender, culture, religion or disability.

At Huggetts we are committed to providing a safe yet stimulating environment aiding your child’s cognitive development, wellbeing and development. We also ensure your child feels safe and secure in an environment they feel at home in.

Community

We hold close ties with the local community and the church parish, with visits to the church intermittently throughout the year (including Christmas fares and Christmas Nativity Plays) and visits from our friendly local police and fire brigade services who are gladly and enthusiastically welcomed by the children. We also hold regular charitable events, which not only raises awareness and much needed funds but also teaches children the values of charity, kindness, giving and compassion.

Key Staff Allocation

Each child is allocated a key member of staff who monitors progress and provides appropriate support, so that your child can achieve his/her full potential.

Child Welfare & Development

At Huggetts the welfare and development of your child is of utmost importance. We ensure there is regular communication links with the parent/carer and regular parents evenings.

Huggetts Menu

At Huggetts we understand that snack and meal times are very important for a child’s nutritional and social development. Both staff and children often eat together encouraging positive eating habits and table manners. It also provides the children with positive role models when seated next to a grown up.

We also believe in offering children a varied and nutritious diet, encouraging children to try new textures and flavours motivating them to try new things.

We are very conscious of providing children with all the nutrition they need. Our fees include all the food they would need throughout their time with us - breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and tea (depending on the child’s time of attendance).

We review and change our menus termly which ensures your child is given a selection of different foods to try, which also encourages them to try different flavours from around the world.

All our staff hold the relevant Food Hygiene Certificates and prepare highly nutritious meals.
